The Wedding Invitations

So, I thought I'd show you what has seemed to consume my life for the past few weeks. My lovely client is currently living in Japan, but getting married in Australia so everything has been done via email. She wanted to feature some of the exquisite Japanese paper that is so readily available to her. When I received it, to be honest I was a bit apprehensive about cutting it all up!

It's been such a fun project to work on together, I'm so happy with how they've turned out, I hope she is as well.

The invitation is made up of a pocket, with 3 inserts inside it. I won't show you those because of personal information, but there is the invitation, and RSVP card, and a map/registry card.

I ♥ Sydney

Yesterday I had the privilege to attend the wedding of one of my dear friends, Jacqui married Wesley. It was an absolutely stunning Sydney day, they were blessed beyond belief with the weather.

They decided to have their reception at Taronga Zoo, in the Taronga Centre, and the views of Sydney Harbour we had were just beautiful so I had to share. Unfortunately we weren't allowed into the reception until 6pm, so the sun was almost set.

We all had a lovely night, one of my friends Melanie made the cake. She's also made my 30th birthday cake. Unfortunately, she still has no website or blog even though I have been bugging her for months, but here is the cake. Sorry about the photo, I should have taken one before it got too dark and the colours are all screwed up.

The cutouts on it are done to complement the wedding invitations I made for the wedding. I've never seen anything like it, I didn't get to ask the bride what she thought (she let Melanie have full control - dangerous!) but I'm sure she loved it. Here's a close up of the sugar flowers and cutouts.

Wedding Invitations

I'm back from my time away in the country, so I thought I'd show you some wedding invitations I've been working on. My business, Little Bird Blue makes event stationery for weddings, engagement parties, birthdays and pretty much anything you can think of.

This first invitation was actually made for a friend of mine. They wanted something simple and elegant. I'm actually really happy with how this turned out, it's not too fussy, suits them perfectly.

The second invitation was made for a couple having a vintage style wedding. It wasn't allowed to be too fussy or frilly - not too much lace or ribbon or the groom would perhaps not be thrilled. We worked together and after a few samples eventually they were thrilled with this design. It's always so lovely when people are so happy, makes my job so much easier!

I figure, since my business is actually making invitations, I thought I'd put a couple on Etsy to see how they went. These are two of my favourites, one you may have seen already as I used it for my 30th birthday high tea.

I absolutely love the combination of suede, lace and ribbon, it's so pretty and luscious!

Little Bird Blue Wrappings

I've been selling a few cards lately, and trying to come up with a standard wrapping and presentation for orders when they are shipped. What do you think? This will be for anything Little Bird Blue Designs ships.
