Bathroom Inspiration

I think the next serious thing I'd like to do to my house is jazz up the bathroom. All I've done since I moved in is paint it and change the handles on the vanity. Wow.

I think I'm going to give tile paint a whirl, but I'm really stuck on what colours to go. I think I will definitely paint the tiles white, but I'm still unsure of whether to go a strong colour on the walls, keep it all very neutral, add wall paper etc etc

Lycksele Chair

So, I was checking out the Ikea website looking for little sofa beds and came across the Lycksele series.

I'd really love a comfy chair in my studio, but if it could turn into a single bed then all the better - space is a serious issue so a double bed is out of the question.

Does anyone currently have one, single or double? Are they comfy or just a waste of space? I'm not overly fussed on any of the covers, but I figure it wouldn't be too hard to draft a pattern and make a pretty one.

Floor Lamps

I'm looking for a floor lamp for this little corner in my loungeroom. It gets quite dark there, and I love to curl up on the lounge and read. I don't want to spend much, so these are some of my favourite cheaper lights, except for the 'massive way out of my budget splurge from Anthropologie!'

Beautiful Wall Stickers

Hi, I've been an incredibly slack blogger, I know! I'm sorry. I've had no internet at home - and yes, it's nearly killed me. But it's back, and I'm planning to be back with actual posts now.

I know wall decals seem to be 'so 2008' but Fabien from Harmonie Interieure contacted me, and well since I'm a sucker for French things at the moment, I had to share. Plus, everything is just beautiful.

Aren't they just gorgeous? I also love their kids stickers, so cute!

Fresh & Green

I'm having a little love affair with green at the moment. I'm hanging out until Spring when I want to decroate my lounge room in greens. Here's some pictures I found that I think are just lovely rooms. I particularly love the mirror collage on the wall in this picture, I'm hoping to find some old vintage mirrors on eBay to try something like this myself.

My Trip To Leura

I'm back from the mountains. Oh gosh, I could move there!! I adore autumn at the best of times. When it's up in the beautiful Blue Mountains with the crisp air, warm sunshine and gorgeous colours - well, I'm just in heaven.

I thought I'd show you some of my favourite things I saw in some of the little shops up there. If only I had limitless cash I could have an incredibly good shopping spree! Instead, I had to be content with window shopping, and adding a few things to the list of 'things I must have in my home to make my life better' I have in my head.

I absolutely adore the pears. They are actually a bit more lime green, but it's hard to get the right colour when you're trying to secretly take a photo before you get caught! They're a bit pricey but I want to do some lime green colours in the house for spring/summer, so I think they might be worth it.

Photo Walls

I love photo walls, how about you? I'm currently thinking of putting one up in my lounge room, to replace the canvas that is currently up. It's been there for three years, so long enough I think!

I currently have one photo wall in my house, in the staircase. It's not quite this bare anymore, I've put a hall table in front, but I love that every morning I can look at photos of all my family.

So, with the abundance of beautiful art and photography that is around at the moment, I thought I'd start collecting pieces for the loungeroom, but now just to decide what kind of style photo wall. You can kind of see that I like symmetrical things, so I'm not sure whether to stick with that or go a little more random.

My Lounge Room - Summer Theme

Well, I think I've showed some pictures of my lounge room, but it would have been in 'winter theme', so given it's a boiling hot summer here in Sydney, I thought I'd show pictures of the summer colours.

It really isn't too different to what I have in winter, except for the different cushions, and a few little accessories. It's also blooming with flowers after my little trip to the markets.

I love that my Domino book even tones in with the colours! The coffee table above and the TV unit are fairly new purchases, I've wanted a low line TV unit for ages, I couldn't believe the difference it made to the room, making it feel so much more spacious. You know it's summer in Australia when the cricket is on in the background... we just won't talk about the score.

I do play the piano sometimes, but really I just love it for putting photos and other little things on!

So there you have it. I would like to change the picture above the lounge to something else, since I've had that canvas for three years now. I'd also like to put a big mirror above the TV, I'm hoping it will open it all up a bit more. I also have dreams of a better feature wall, you probably can't tell but the long wall behind the lounge is slightly darker than the rest. It looked so much better when I was testing colours to when it actually went on, but we were so over painting it just stayed. Your thoughts would be great on some ideas!

Flowers

I absolutely adore flowers. I would have them in my home all the time if I could afford it. Fortunately, in Sydney we have an amazing flower market - but it requires a 5:00am start and half hour drive to get there, hence the reason I don't go all the time. I do try and go once a month - more often in summer when it's not such a rude shock to get up so early in the cold!

Anyway, I'm waffling. I went this morning, and what a haul I came home with. For the measly sum of $30 I managed to get 9 bunches of flowers. I'm actually running out of places to put them. I thought I'd show off what I bought because they're just so beautiful.

Aren't hydrangeas just exquisite? In Australia they are a quintessential Christmas flower so I had to buy them. Only $7 a bunch!!

Lissianthus and roses - I think they are such a beautiful combination. So soft and romantic.

So, I'm Not The Grinch

Christmas this year has sadly not been a priority for me, I hate that. I finally got around to decorating my home very quickly, just to bring in some Christmas spirit. This afternoon, I'm heading off to see the Christmas Spectacular put on at my church, I'm so looking forward to it.

I thought I'd just quickly show some of the things I've done around the house, and I freely admit they're neither wonderful or amazing - I've bought really nothing new for this year even though I had great intentions. Maybe next year.

This is my wreath for the front door,. I made it a few Christmases ago, but I still love it.

This is my tree, which I've only really just put up - still no presents underneath it. Oops. Oh, except for the little surprise I've bought for Indie.

As one of many Christmas presents to myself, I recently bought the Markor sofa bench from Ikea. I really wanted something to go in my staircase to put pretty things on, so it's also been tarted up for Christmas, just with some cheap Ikea baubles and a reindeer candelabra I bought last year from Dusk.

So, do you have photos of your home all done up? I am determined that next year I'm going all out!

I'm A Christmas Disgrace

So, it's less than three weeks until Christmas, and I've not got a single decoration up in my house. And you know what else... I'm actually contemplating not decorating it at all! No, it's not some kind of protest, it's that I've got too much to do, that I don't know when I'll have the time to decorate, let alone think about Christmas cards! Makes me a bit sad. Just looking around blogland makes me wish I could spend days decorating my home, feeling all festive.

Fingers crossed I get some time to at least put up a tree, until then I will live vicariously through everyone else. In the meantime, how cute is glitter Santa from Pottery Barn?

My Wallpaper Dream

I would love love love to have some wallpaper in my house. Of course, gone are the days of the daggy yellow wallpapered wall. Wallpaper of today is beautiful, stylish and lustworthy!

I have a wall in mind, the one at the landing in my staircase. It's about 4 metres high and 2 metres wide and I currently use it as my photo wall. I'm thinking of wallpapering it, and removing the photo wall. I'm still deciding whether you really can hammer picture hooks into wallpaper... thoughts?

Apologies for the bad photo, very hard to take! I've found a few wallpapers that I'd love to use. While it's not in the budget right now, it is something I'd really love to do.

This first wallpaper is Erin by Laura Ashley. I love the colours. From the staircase you look down into my dining room which is decorated in pale pink, blue and latte. I think this would flow really nicely. This is apparently more blue than the photo suggests. So far this is my absolute favourite.

Then there is this wallpaper I've loved for a while from Mibo. I'm just not sure whether I'm brave enough!

I also like the following two, from Graham Brown, although I have tried unsucessfully on two occasions to order samples from them which just never turn up, so I'd be concerned about ordering several rolls!
