Spring has totally sprung here in Sydney. The weather is warm and beautiful, and all the wisteria, cherry blossoms, roses and everything else is out. Driving to work now is such a delight as I pass so many beautiful homes with beautiful blooming gardens!
It's got me thinking about my own backyard which sadly has not had much attention over winter. The best thing that has happened is the neighbours behind me have cut down a dreadfully ugly cactus plant they had. I can handle it's ugliness, but when it was flowering, the flowers would fall on my lawn and in my garden and rot away if I didn't get out quick enough to pick them up. See it in the back corner? Ugly, hey?
Anyway, now that it's gone the backyard is really open and I can see about 5 houses down the street. My new plan is to build a screen and have a beautiful flowering climber do it's thing. The first plant on my shortlist is wisteria... it just is so beautiful to me.

My other thought was jasmine. I would love to walk outside and just have that beautiful fragrance in the air!
Has anyone grown either and got any tips or recommendations for me? I'm not a good gardener, so I need to know if it's easy to kill as well!Posted on September 19, 2009 in Gardening | Permalink | Comments (12) | TrackBack (0)

I'm at the point where I'm looking for art and photography for an art wall I'm planning for my lounge room. How much fun is it to just search for beautiful prints?
So, I thought rather than be selfish and keep all my finds to myself, I had to share some photography that is on my short list at the moment with all of you.
One of my favourites from Irene Suchocki
These two from Skippy Designs
From Yvette Inufio
Flutterby by Kristybee
Paris by Serpentine
I really seem to have gone for a romantic dreamy look haven't it? It's just all so delicious!! HAs anyone got any other photographers you think I would like?

I found these fabulous cards via the SCOOP blog, and think they are just fantastic! From Etsy seller Squirrel In The Attic. Cute, hey?
I can see myself buying the Hey Miss or Hey Lady cards for my girlfriends; it's such a lovely invitation to an afternoon tea or picnic on a sunny day.

So, this is not normally what I'd post on this blog, but I'm so excited about this. Hillsong United are from my church here in Sydney, and they're bringing out their I-Heart Revoultion film in November.
As United crisscross the globe they are confronted and ultimately overwhelmed by the stories of remarkable individuals facing injustice and the uncomfortable paradox of being united in worship yet divided in circumstance. If their entire focus is directed only to what happens on stage, then maybe they have missed the point altogether.
So, go and see it! I'm pretty sure it's one night only.

I bought this 'K' on the weekend, slightly useless impulse buy - but I love it!
Some friends and I went to a new-to-me gift and homewares shop in Beecroft, Beautiful Things By. It has a very lovely mix of new, vintage and slightly retro items. I found a lot I'd like to have in my home.
